If you like to read a lot of e-books and you are serious about keeping your database tidy and organized, then calibre E-Book Management is the perfect program for you. calibre runs on Windows, Apple, and Linux operating systems, and is free to use but donations are appreciated.
When you start calibre you will be asked to choose the folder in which the majority of your e-books are located. This will be your library. Here, you will be taken to a screen with all of your books displayed in a window. In the frame on your left, you will be able to sort through books based on author, language, rating, tags, and a variety of other categorizing elements.
calibre lets you edit the metadata of each book so that you can have every item properly organized in its respective category. In addition, if your book is a well-known title, you can select it and click “download metadata”. The program will search the Internet and fill in the author, title, publication date summary, and download a picture of the book’s cover. This is a quick and convenient way to organize your electronic library.
You can also convert your e-books into a number of formats, so that they can support readers like Apple and Kindle. Another great feature of calibre is the scheduled download option, where you can set a date or schedule to download news and stories from your favorite update feeds, like Time Magazine and The New York Times. more
